Terkait dengan STEM literasi, terdapat tiga dimensi untuk mendukung
kompetensi (Ramdan dan Hamidah, 2015). Lebih diungkapkan bahwa
sebagaimana literasi sains melibatkan empat komponen (pengetahuan konten,
proses, konteks dan attitude sebagai tiga dimensi terhadap kompetensi (Kumano
dan Goto, 2015), maka STEM literasi juga melibatkan cross cutting concepts,
core ideas of four discipline, scientific and engineering practice sebagai
konteksnya untuk mendukung kompetensi dalam STEM.
