4. Tegangan Tinggi (High Voltage =HV), Tegangan Tinggi (High Voltage) berkisar 36 KV – 150.000 Volt (150 KV). J

Engineers who work with high voltage distribution systems should learn about the basics of electricity as well as its
hazardous nature. Understanding the dangers of high voltage is vital to working safely. This course will help improve
awareness of the need to work safely and avoid accidents.

Safety Measures for High Voltage
There is no difference between the power distribution system of low voltage switchgear and that of high voltage swit
However, the design and manufacturing stages of high voltage switchgear and low voltage switchgear are different b
of an increase in voltage. The following points are important when designing and manufacturing high voltage switchg
- strengthening of insulation levels
- enhancement of countermeasures taken to prevent of electric shock
- Countermeasures against shock voltages including corona discharge and switching surge
Enhancement of Countermeasures for Prevention of Electric Shock
Precautionary measures are as follows:
- Strengthening of the degree of protection (IP code)
- Separation of compartments
High voltage switchgear is separated into the high voltage compartment and the low voltage compartment. Furthe
the high voltage compartment is required to be divided into the high voltage bus bar compartment, the high voltage b
compartment, and the high voltage cable compartment.
- Application of an interlock
(Prevention of inappropriate operation, electric shock)
The arc discharge is a state in which an electron or an ion moves in a condition of high temperature gas in an electr
when a short circuit occurs. The arc discharge has the highest current density of all discharges, and therefore, it is d
as the final form of discharge.

Voltage and Safe Distance
This is an example of a requirement for clearance distance.
NK rule --- 6.6 kV: 90 mm 440V: 23 mm
Accessible distance to 6.6kV is generally 150mm because of possible contact with the tips of your fingers.
If your fingers come within 150mm of a live part, you may suffer an electric shock even without direct contact.
daya tahan kulit hingga 1.000 ohm.

Perhitungan Arus Gangguan Hubung Singkat
Gangguan hubung singkat 3 fasa
Gangguan hubung singkat 2 fasa
Gangguan hubung singkat 1 fasa ke tanah
Perhitungan gangguan hubung singkat ini dihitung besarnya berdasarkan panjang penyulang, yaitu diasum
di 25 %, 50 %, 75 %, dan 100 % dari panjang penyulang Bima.
Keuntungan:
1. Pengurangan ukuran generator, motor, kabel dll.
2. Ruang dan Berat digunakan lebih kecil
3. Pemasangan lebih mudah
4. pengurangan biaya instalasi
5. kehilangan daya lebih rendah
6. pemanfaatan daya yang dihasilkan lebih efisien.

Pada sistem Tegangan Rendah/on the Low Voltage system.
P = 500 x 1000 Watt, faktor daya, Cos φ = 0,8, Tegangan, V = 440
P = √3 V I Cos φ
I = 500000 / (√3 x 440 x 0,8)
I = 820 Ampere
Pada sistem Tegangan Tinggi / on the High Voltege System
P = 500 x 1000 Watt, faktor daya, Cos φ = 0,8, Tegangan, V = 3,3 kV
P = √3 V I Cos φ
I = 500000 / (√3 x 3,3 x 1000 x 0,8)
I = 109 Ampere

1. INTRINSIC BREAKDOWN
When voltages are applied only for short durations of the order of 8 10 sthe dielectric strength of a solid dielectric inc
very rapidly to an upper limit called the intrinsic electric strength. Experimentally, this highest dielectric strength can
obtained only under the best experimental conditions when all extraneous influences have been isolated and the val
depends only on the structure of the material and the temperature. The maximum electrical strength recorder is 15 M
for polyvinyl-alcohol at -1960 C. The maximum strength usually obtainable ranges from 5 MV/cm. Intrinsic breakdow
depends upon the presence of free electrons which are capable of migration through the lattice of the dielectric. Usu
small number of conduction electrons are present in solid dielectrics, along with some structural imperfections and s
amounts of impurities. The impurity atoms, or molecules or both act as traps for the conduction electrons up to certa
ranges of electric fields and temperatures. When these ranges are exceeded, additional electrons in addition to
trapped electrons are released, and these electrons participate in the conduction process.
Based on this principle, two types of intrinsic breakdown mechanisms have been proposed.
i) Electronic Breakdown
Intrinsic breakdown occurs in time of the order of 10-8 s and therefore is assumed to be electronic in nature. The ini
density of conduction (free) electrons is also assumed to be large, and electron-electron collisions occur. When an e
field is applied, electrons gain energy from the electric field and cross the forbidden energy gap from the valence ba
conduction band. When this process is repeated, more and more
electrons become available in the conduction band, eventually leading to breakdown.
ii) Avalanche or Streamer Breakdown
This is similar to breakdown in gases due to cumulative ionization. Conduction electrons gain sufficient energy abov
certain critical electric field and cause liberation of electrons from the lattice atoms by collision. Under uniform field
conditions, if the electrodes are embedded in the specimen, breakdown will occur when an electron avalanche bridg
electrode gap.An electron within the dielectric, starting from the cathode will drift towards the anode and during this m
gains energy from the field and loses it during collisions.
When the energy gained by an electron exceeds the lattice ionization potential, an additional electron will be liberate
collision of the first electron. This process repeats itself
resulting in the formation of an electron avalanche. Breakdown will occur, when the
avalanche exceeds a certain critical size.
In practice, breakdown does not occur by the formation of a single avalanche itself, but
occurs as a result of many avalanches formed within the dielectric and extending step by
step through the entire thickness of the material.
4.3 ELECTROMECHANICAL BREAKDOWN
When solid dielectrics are subjected to high electric fields, failure occurs due to
electrostatic compressive forces which can exceed the mechanical compressive strength.
If the thickness of the specimen is d0 and is compressed to thickness d under an applied
voltage V, then the electrically developed compressive stress is in equilibrium.
4.4 THERMAL BREAKDOWN
In general, the breakdown voltage of a solid dielectric should increase with its thickness.
But this is true only up to a certain thickness above which the heat generated in the
dielectric due to the flow of current determines the conduction.
When an electric field is applied to a dielectric, conduction current however small it may
be, flows through the material. The current heats up the specimen and the temperature
rise. The heat generated is transferred to the surrounding medium by conduction through
the solid dielectric and by radiation from its outer surfaces. Equilibrium is reached when
the heat used to raise the temperature of the dielectric, plus the heat radiated out, equals
the heat generated. The heat generated under d. c. stress E is given as
