1. METAPHOR
Metaphor is the use words of groups of words not with their true meaning,
but as a picture based on similarities or comparisons.

Metapora adalah penggunaan kata atau kelompok kata bukan dengan arti
yang sebenarnya, melainkan sebagai lukisan yang berdasarkan persamaan atau
perbandingan.

Example :

(ketika aku tenggelam dalam kesunyian)

(kata katamu memotong lebih dalam dari pisau)

2. SIMILE
A simile is a type of figurative language that describes something by
comparing it to something else with the words like or as.

Indonesia:

Simile adalah jenis bahasa kiasan yang menggambarkan sesuatu dengan

membandingkannya dengan sesuatu yang lain dengan kata-kata seperti atau
seperti.

Example :

A. just like a moth drawn to a flame

(Sama seperti ngengat yang tertarik pada nyala api)

B. i can read you like a magazine

(Aku bisa membacamu seperti majalah)

C. i see this life like a swinging vine

(Saya melihat kehidupan ini, seperti pohon anggur yang berayun)

3. HYPERBOLE
Hyperbole is e figutave ( exaggerated) exaggerated utterance (phrase,
statemen), uttered far less (part) than it is actually used (all). In this case what is
important is the impression shown. By speech, the intensit of the meaning of
language becomes very strong.

Hiperbola merupakan ucapan (ungkapan, pernyataan) kiasan yang dibesar-

besarkan (berlebih-lebihan), dikemukakan jauh lebih sedikit (sebagian) dari pada
waktu yang sebenarnya digunakan (keseluruhan). Dalam hal ini yang penting adalah
kesan yang ditampilkan. Dengan penggunaan majas hiperbolis, maka intensitas
makna bahasa menjadi sangat kuat.

Example :

( jika anda pernah menemukan diri anda terjebak ditengah laut)

4. PERSONIFICATION
Personification or figure of speech personification is a figure of speech that is
used as a form of parable, comparison, or depiction of inanimate objects as if they
were human.

Not only inanimate objects, but you can also describe animals, plants, or other
living things besides humans to have human-like characteristics.

Personifikasi atau majas personifikasi adalah majas yang digunakan sebagai

bentuk pengumpamaan, perbandingan, atau penggambaran benda mati seolah-olah
menjadi manusia.Tidak hanya benda mati, tetapi kamu juga bisa mendeskripsikan
hewan,tumbuhan, atau makhluk hidup lain selain manusia menjadi memiliki sifat
seperti manusia.

5. SYMBOLISM
Symbolism is a figure of speech that describes something using symbols of
objects, animals or plants.

Simbolisme adalah majas yang melukiskan sesuatu dengan menggunakan

simbol benda, binatang, atau tumbuhan.

Example :

A. He is famous as a land crocodile

(Ia terkenal sebagai buaya darat)

B. The house was scorched by the red rooster

(Rumah itu hangus di lalap si jago merah)

C. She is so beautiful in her village that she is called the "country flower"

(Ia sangat cantik di desanya sehingga ia disebut sebagai "bunga desa")
