Saran
Risiko ARMD dapat diperkecil dengan menghindari faktor
risiko yang dapat dicegah dan berupaya hidup sehat. Diharapkan
setiap oftalmolog dapat melakukan skrining pemeriksaan fundus
karena kebanyakan kasus ARMD tanpa keluhan tajam
penglihatan bila belum melibatkan penglihatan sentral. Berisiko
CNV (choroidal
neovascularization) apabila dijumpai lima atau lebih drusen,
terdapat satu atau lebih drusen berukuran besar, adanya
hiperpigmentasi fokal dan adanya riwayat hipertensi sistemik.
Apabila terdapat risiko CNV, penderita dididik untuk
memantau sendiri penglihatannya dengan menggunakan kartu
Amsler.
