Lobster Laut
(Panulirus sp.)
 Lobster laut (Panulirus sp.) merupakan salah satu komoditas
perikanan yang terbilang potensial dan masuk dalam kategori
ekonomis tinggi (Fauzi, 2013). Lobster terkenal dengan dagingnya
yang halus serta rasanya yang gurih dan lezat. Jika dibandingkan
dengan udang jenis lainnya, lobster memang jauh lebih enak. Tidak
salah jika makanan ini merupakan makanan yang bergengsi yang
hanya disajikan di restoran-restoran besar dan hotel-hotel berbintang.
Karena harganya yang mahal, lobster biasanya hanya dikonsumsi
oleh kalangan ekonomi atas.

 Morfologi
Tubuh lobster terdiri dari dua bagian, yaitu bagian depan atau
cephalothoraxs (kepala menyatu dengan dada) dan bagian belakang
yang disebut abdomen (perut). Seluruh tubuh lobster terdiri dari ruas-
ruas yang tertutup olek kerangka luar yang keras, bagian kepala terdiri
dari 13 ruas dan bagian dada terdiri dari enam ruas. cephalothoraxs
tertutup oleh cangkang yang keras (carapace) dengan bentuk
memanjang ke arah depan. Pada bagian ujung cangkang tersebut
terdapat bagian runcing yang disebut cucuk kepala (rostrum). Mulut
terletak pada kepala bagian bawah, diantara rahang-rahang
(mandibula). Sisi kanan dan kiri kepala ditutup oleh kelopak kepala dan
di bagian dalamnya terdapat insang. Mata terletak di bagian bawah
rostrum, berupa mata majemuk bertangkai yang dapat digerakkan.
Habitat
Lobster pada umumnya adalah di perairan pantai yang
banyak terdapat bebatuan / terumbu karang. Terumbu karang
ini di samping sebagai barrier (pelindung) dari ombak, juga
tempat bersembunyi dari predator serta berfungsi pula
sebagai daerah pencari makan. Habitat lobster adalah daerah-
daerah yang banyak terdapat karang-karang, terumbu karang,
batuan granit, atau batuan vulkanis.
 Siklus Hidup
lobster terdiri dari 5 fase yaitu mulai dari
dewasa yang memproduksi sperma atau telur,
menetas menjadi filosoma (larva), kemudian
berubah menjadi puerulus (post larva), tumbuh
menjadi juvenil (lobster remaja) dan dewasa.
Marga Panulirus mempunyai daur hidup yang
majemuk, pengetahuan tentang tingkatan hidup
larva masih sangat kurang terutama terhadap
jenis-jenis yang hidup di perairan tropik
(Romimohtarto & Juwana, 2005).
 Tingkat Kematangan Gonad
Tahap tertentu perkembangan gonad sebelum dan sesudah ikan berpijah. Catatan
kematangan gonad dapat digunakan untuk menentukan perbandingan antara ikan yang telah
masak gonad dengan yang belum dalam suatu perairan, menentukan apakah sudah atau
belum ikan memijah, lama saat pemijahan, dan frekuensi pemaijahan dalam satu tahun.
Tingkat perkembangan testis dan ovarium lobster dibedakan atas lima tingkatan. Lobster
yang berada pada TKG I dan II digolongkan ke dalam kelompok belum matang, sedangkan
yang berada pada TKG III, IV dan V dimasukkan ke dalam kelompok matang gonad.
Gonad lobster betina yang mencapai TKG IV atau telah dibuahi, dilepaskan secara
keseluruhan dari kaki-kaki renang dan butir-butir telur dihitung untuk memperoleh
fekunditas parsial individu. Telur yang akan dihitung terlebih dahulu diawetkan dengan
menggunakan larutan Gilson. Nisbah kelamin ditentukan berdasarkan perbandingan jumlah
lobster jantan dan jumlah betina pada setiap bulan.
Teknik Budidaya
1. Pemilihan Lokasi Budidaya

 Hindari tempat yang berpotensi menimbulkan

badai, angin kencang, gelombang tinggi, serta
cuaca ekstrem. Tempat yang cocok adalah pesisir
pantai atau teluk karena terbebas dari cuaca
ekstrem yang dapat menggangu perkembangbiakan
lobster serta lokasi dari budidaya tersebut.

 dasar pantai yang hendak dijadikan lokasi budidaya
lobster air laut memiliki dasar berpasir atau bisa
juga berkarang
2. Pembuatan Kolam

Setelah lokasi yang ditentukan sudah sesuai dengan kriteria

yang ada, selanjutnya adalah pembuatan kolam apung dengan jaring.
Kolam apung ini dapat diletakkan dekat dengan tempat OTEC
(Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion) Air dingin yang dihasilkan
dari proses OTEC dapat dimanfaatkan dalam suplai air untuk kolam
apung dari lobster. Dengan adanya air dingin ini, maka suhu air akan
cenderung konstan akibatnya kolam akan sangat baik untuk
perkembangan lobster.
 3. Produksi dan Pemilihan Bibit
Produksi benih oleh induk dilihat dari sisi kuantitas dan kualitasnya. Kuantitas
benih yang dihasilkan induk dilihat dari jumlah juvenil yang dihasilkan dari setiap
bobot induk setelah inkubasi telur. Untuk kualitas benih yang dihasilkan dilihat dari
pertumbuhan benih yang dihasilkan setiap induk setelah pemeliharaan selama satu
bulan yang dicerminkan dengan grade benih. Grade benih ditentukan berdasarkan
panjang baku benih yang dihasilkan setelah pemeliharaan satu bulan. Grade A
ditetapkan dengan standar ukuran > 2,6 cm, grade B 2,1-2,6 cm, dan grade C ≤ 2,0
cm. Kemudian penebaran, setelah bibit didapatkan bibit harus dikarantina terlebih
dahulu guna menjaga agar lobster air laut tidak mengalami mati, akibat mengalami
stress saat diperjalanan. Selanjutnya proses penebaran dianjurkan saat pagi sore
ataupun malam hari dalam artian saat cuaca tidak terlalu panas.
 4. Pemberian Pakan
Pemberian pakan pada lobster air laut terbilang
sangat mudah, hanya dibutuhkan ikan rucah
segar, bekicot, tiram dan lain-lain. Sebelum
memberikan pakan terlebih dulu ikan segar atau
bekicot dipotong kecil-kecil lalu diberikan pada
lobster. Pemberian makan pada lobster
dilakukan dua kali dalam sehari Call for Paper

hari
Untuk ukuran pakan pada lobster
gunakan 20% per ekor dari berat lobster
tersebut. Hal yang harus diperhatikan
adalah kebersihan didalam kolam agar
kadar air yang terkandung tetap dalam
kondisi normal, kemudian bersihkan
kolam jika terdapat sisa makanan pada
kolam guna menanggulangi makanan
agar tidak membusuk karena dapat
meracuni lobster.
 5. Panen
Panen dapat dilakukan saat udang lobster
air laut memiliki ukuran yang besar dan sudah
bisa diterima dipasaran yairu dengan berat 120 –
200 gram/ekor. Untuk masalah waktu tergantung
saat penebaran benih, apabila penebaran bibit
dilakukan saat masih berukuran 5-10 ram/ekor
maka untuk mendapatkan berat 120 gram/ekor
atau saat masa panen tiba dibutuhkan waktu
sekitar 10 bulan. Namun jika penebaran
dilakukan saat bibit berukuran 15-30 gram/ekor
hanya dibutuhkan waktu 6-8 bulan saat masa
panen tiba. Semakin besar bibit yang ditebar
maka semakin cepat masa panen lobster.
