Abstract
Aim: CBT is an effective non-pharmacological treatment for almost all mental disorders, especially
anxiety and depression. This therapy is time-limited, encourages self-help skills, is problem-focused,
inductive in nature, and requires clients to develop and practice skills in their own environment through
given homework. This literature review was conducted to identify the effect of Cognitive Behavior
Therapy (CBT) on anxiety.
Method: The literature review method was carried out on 10 articles obtained from the Google Scholar,
PubMed, JSTOR, Sage Journal and Wiley Online Library data base and selected with the criteria for
easy access to their full text. The keywords used were "Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)", "Anxiety".
The article criteria used are English and Indonesian, published from 2017-2021
Results: CBT is a therapy that combines two therapies, namely cognitive therapy and behavioral
therapy. The results show that this therapy can change distorted thoughts into rational and positive
thoughts and change negative behavior into positive ones.
Conclusion: Identifying the effect of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) on anxiety has an effective
effect on reducing anxiety, so it is hoped that health workers can apply cognitive therapy to reduce
anxiety levels.
