 Sejarah pertanian menunjukkan bahwa system
pertanian telah berkembang dari system
indigenous ramah lingkungan ke system
konvensional, industrial, atau modern yang tidak
ramah lingkungan.
Ketidakramahan system pertanian konvensional
itu, yang notabene berkembang lebih dahulu di
negara-negara maju, terjadi karena penggunaan
teknologi yang sarat masukan luar berupa
agrokimia terutama pupuk inorganic dan pestisida
buatan.

SPT
Sistem pertanian terpadu merupakan
komponen yang sangat penting dan
sentral di dalam konsep ecovillage.
Kareana di dalam sisitem pertanian
terpadu praktek pertanian yang ramah
lingkungan sangat dikedepankan.
Salah satu syarat dalam pelaksanaan
pertanian terpadu adalah harus secara
ekologi dapat diterima dan
meminimumkan limbah (zero waste).
 Apa itu SPT?
SPT atau Sistem Pertanian Terpadu adalah praktek pertanian yang mengintegrasikan pengelolaan
pertanian, peternakan, dan perikanan dalam satu kesatuan yang utuh.

Antara ketiga usaha tersebut harus ada sinergi dan biomasa yang terjadi satu sama lain. Tanaman
menghasilkan makanan organik yang bisa menjadi pakan ternak dan ikan, kotoran ternak dapat
dimanfaatkan sebagai pupuk kandang organik, Biogas dan pakan ikan. Ecovillage pada prinsipnya adalah
mengoptimalkan pemanfaatan sumberdaya yang tersedia di suatu Village (desa). Dalam perputaran ini jika
sumber internal masih belum mencukupi baru diperkenankan menambahnya dari luar.

padi, sekaligus bisa juga beternak kambing, ayam, ikan dan menanansayuran
dan buah-buahan.

Petani tidak perlu membeli pupuk lagi

ketergantungan kepada input eksternal yang ditentukan pasar dan subsidi
pemerintah. Ikan budidaya dalam kolam tanpa harus membeli pakan buatan.

 Kesimpulan

Sistem pertanian terpadu (SPT) adalah sebuah sistem yang

mengabungkan dan mengintegrasikan beberapa macam usaha
seperti pertanian, pertenakan, perikanan dalam suatu kesatuan
yang utuh. Sistem-sistem tersebut saling membangun sebuah
chemistry yang salibg berhubungan dan menguntungkan satu
sama lain sehingga kebutuhan akan sumber daya bias ditekan
seminimal mungkin.
