SPRINTING -
50 YARD
DASH TEST
1. sprint participants perform a warm-up routine.
2. the three timers stand t locations suitable for viewing the single sprinters start and finish.
Thus, one timer is at 40yard, 50 yard and 60 yard.
3. the sprinter assumes the starting position by lowering the center of gravity and leaning slightly
forward.
4. the sprinter and three timers acknowledge their readingness by:
i. The sprinter’s yelling, ‘’Ready’’
ii. The timers yelling, ‘’Ready’’ in return
5. the timers start their watches at the first starting movement of the sprinter.
6. the sprinter runs as fast as possible through the 40 yd, 50yd, or 60yd finish lines, depending
upon the yardage comparisons desired by the sprinter or investigators.
7. the timers stop their watches when the sprinter breaks the plane respective finish lines: they
records the time to the closest tenth of a second onto form 7.2.
8. the sprinter epeats the trial after a recovery period consisting of a low-intensity activity, such
as walking 40m= 1-2 min; 50m= 2-5min; 60m= 3-8min.
9. the sprinter performs a third trial if the difference between the first two trials is greater than
0.2 s.
10. the sprinter performs a proper cool-down by repeating a regimen similar to the first 5min of
the warm up and by statically stretching the legs periodically during the next three days.
